Today’s Tip: Waterfalls

One thing that influenced me a lot growing up were the waterfalls that my granddad designed. There was one in my grandparents backyard of their house, and another one at the cabin they built in the mountains. And as a young toddler I would spend so much time at the sink watching the water run, with curiosity and fascination. So I love it when water is brought into design. In landscape or interior design, I’m drawn towards any water features.

In design, there are a variety of ways to incorporate water. It can be actual water, through a pond, pool, water fountain, waterfall, bubbler, and so forth. Or it could also be the palette of colors that embody water, or artwork, used not only for interior or landscape design, but also for graphic design or application user interfaces. So you can bring the essence of beaches, rivers, lakes, or oceans in via so many formats.

Where innovation is concerned, water can also include conservation and sustainable design. So preserving our precious resources is a great problem to solve, and bring innovative ideas into.
